HIGH SCHOOL! Juan was more excited than he had ever been in his life! He was walking to HIGH SCHOOL! This was it, what he did here would affect the rest of his life!

Walking along, listening to the birds chirping and smelling the fresh air, he thought to himself, “I could be everything, maybe even a police officer!” Juan had wanted to be a police officer since the third grade. He remembered the third grade; he had met Eliza that year.

Eliza was one of his closest friends; he had had a crush on her for a long time. His best friend Levi had introduced Juan to her. Juan recalled the conversation. He had walked up to Levi, who had been playing with Eliza. She had looked at him and said, “Hello, my name is Eliza! Want to be friends?”

“Sure”, he had said.

“Hello Juan”, Levi had said, “this is Eliza. She just moved here.” Juan stopped walking before a big house, which was where Levi lived. He walked up to the door. When Juan reached out to knock on the door, it flung open and there was Levi.

“Lets go!” shouted Levi, sprinting past Juan and straight into the street.

Juan ran to catch up with Levi, who had slowed down. Juan was much bigger than Levi. Juan was a tall and muscular, he was much stronger than Levi. Levi, on the other hand, was taller and skinny. He had long legs and could out run Juan easily.

“Come on slow poke,”, Levi yelled, “The faster we get there the faster you can try out for your precious football team!”

Juan started to run again. He thought back to that glorious third grade year. That year he had learned what he wanted to be. For in that year D.A.R.E. had been introduced to his school. Officer Victor, Juan’s D.A.R.E. officer was the coolest person he had ever met. He would talk about anything Juan wanted to talk about. He remembered the lessons, sitting in the classroom holding hands with Eliza listening to Officer Victor talk about whatever he talked about.
